I claimed my mom for years.... All you need to do is show > 51% contribution to whoever. If they have income and can file they still need to file as well. My mom didn't file cause of her income so it was easy to do. Just keep the reciepts just in case they ever come knockin at your door. She never lived with me full time - some years she was there while she was recouperating but she always went back to her apt when she could. I didn't have to stop claiming her till she moved to "full time care". I couldn't do 51% of 3,000 a month plus meds and such.................it is leagal and it doesn't surprise me a bit that illegeals with #'s are claimin family. Don't ya think someone is claimin those 10 people multifamily households???? It's like a legal.... snow white and the 7 dwarfs......... hell they probably follow the rules more than some of our own do - truth be known!
