Well, we lost our last dependent too. We ended up the year last year paying quite a bit. So much that there was a penalty for under-estimating the taxes. So this year, we both withheld at the single rate plus $100 per paycheck. Hopefully, it won't hurt so much again. We complained all year long about medical bills - thank God for health insurance and the hubby's military retirement medical insurance - seemed like our part was pretty high, but still not high enough to deduct. Is it 7% or 10% of your gross income?

Seems like you get a raise at work and all it does it raise your taxes - you don't really get much of a raise at all. Still try to keep a smiley face, though!
