Kan. Pickup Truck Crash Kills 3

ROLLA, Kan. -- Three people were killed and more than a dozen injured Tuesday when a pickup truck carrying 19 people crashed on a rural highway, authorities said.
Kansas Highway Patrol Capt. David Ploutz said the pickup truck, with an extended cab and camper shell, crashed when the driver lost control just west of Rolla in southwest Kansas.
Sixteen people were hospitalized, said Deborah Schnurr, coordinator of Morton County Emergency Services. Morton County Hospital said some of the injured were in critical condition.
Ploutz could not confirm whether the truck was carrying undocumented workers, but he said U.S. immigration authorities had been called to notify next of kin. |
