| Monday- A day without school The kids cheered when I told them Monday would be another day the hispanics would not be there. They said the last time they marched there were only a few kids in the class. They said the teacher suspended the normal curriculum and let them goof off. They said the all the teacher did was talk about the march a little bit and then they got to goof off.
I don't know how others feel about this...but I would think the unexcused absense would not qualify as a day to stop teaching. The kids who show up for school deserve to be taught, not just goof off. So you see, regardless of what we all think about this not affecting us, it DOES affect our children. Sad, very sad.
Personally, I think the teachers should stick with the curriculum, and if others fall behind because they are making a statement, then so be it. It is supposed to be a day without them, why should teaching come to a halt for all? We learned before they were here.
