Cinco De Mayo is the celebration of repelling, you noticed I didn't say defeated, the French by the people of Puebla. Only in America has it become a big celebration. The repelled the French for 3 days before they got their butts kicked.
February 23 1836 the Alamo had a small band of Americans that repelled Santa Ana's army for 13 days before they got their butts kicked.
