| I think it’s a lot of too little too late. The border has been ignored by both parties for decades. Bush did talk about doing something at first but Congress didn’t want any part of it. Tom Tancredo has been making lots of noise about securing the borders for years and he’s treated like a freak by most of the other politicians. The House Republicans have passed a bill for border security every year since 1997 and it gets killed in the Senate were Democrats can and do manage to block things they don’t like.
Talking about any kind of amnesty at this point is a mistake. It just says hurry up and get here before the door slams shut. |
