I'm looking to upgrade to a new detector and now is a good chance to get into the hobby fairly cheap.

There is only one model above this one. This is one great detector for both novice and expert. I will also be happy to spend some time with the buyer until they feel comfortable using it. This detector sells for $899 but I will take $400. Granted, this is a lot of money for a first detector, but if your serious about finding 'The Good Stuff' and hope to invest some time detecting, you will end up with a detector like this sooner of later.
