I believe they have 15 days to respond to your request. They charge for the manpower time - and the supplies used. Course often if ya just go ask they will show ya what ya want. I would do appt with the chief - then if no satisfaction - make the open records request. If it's ungodly high - ask the att general to evaluate the cost. My DIL made an open records reqest - chage was $87 for emails of 15 folks. She then dropped the request - then my son did the same request - got an estimate of $3000. Texas Att General haas jumped all over it and now the PD is scramblin. There is a prodeedure to follow. It works if you are patient. The info ain't goin nowhere - it will still be there when you finally get it.

I'm not sure if videos are covered but bet they are. If it's just a citizen complaint (which I think this is) - you might be amazed at the action you get when the chief knows what the problem is. If you don't tell em - you haven't given them a chance. Ususally they are more concerned about the "perception" that citizens have than you might realize. OR ya might really have a crummy chief - but ya have to approach it optimistacally to get anywhere. You need to decide if it's important enough to you to actually follow the process. Kinda reminds me of the imigration bitchin by the non legals. Always in a hurry - wantin to circumvent the system. Follow the system and see if that helps ya! Open records doesn't need an attorney - just a letter requesting exact info you want. Your state Att Gen will be your attorney if ya need it.
