We're having a hard time in Iraq because:

a. we never should have been in there in the first place and
b. the people who pushed this thing did not have a clue what being an occupying force was going to be like and....
c. apparently were a little naive (and I am being polite here) in thinking that centuries of hatred between various factions was not going to end with the removal of their dictator. and
d. too many strings were tied around the military and it was under manned it in the beginning whcich combined with b and c, allowed this trouble to sow.

But this thread deals with Israel so back to the show...

In spite of all their bravo and retalliation, have terrorist attacks on Israel ever really stopped? No. When and if this one ends, it will only be a matter of time before they endure another attack. The incesant retalliation does not stop the attacks, it does however make them a bit more painful and makes the Israelis' more "manly".

In my feeble mind, I think it shows the folly of one sided "peace" accords where one country (Israel) gave up territory under the guise of peace and it wasn't enough for their enemies eventually. While I think their policies and tactics sometimes make a bad situation worse, zero sum games and logic will not work in that region with warring factions. But alas, while there will probably be some kind of cease fire and peace accord, the seeds of further hatred and attacks are being sown and the cycle repeats itself.

I'll ignore the democrat comment for now.
