Everybody got along, things were simple, and we had FREEDOM of which I fought for and am glad that we have people like you, who also fight for our freedom. But it seems nowadays, those freedoms are slowly going the wayside. Everyone thinks that their stance on a position is the only right one, and everybody else is full of crap!! Back in the "good ole days", we all respected each others choices, opinions, and freedoms, and had manners, morals, and respect for all of our fellow men. The "ME, ME, ME" crowd today, should have to endure some of the hardships, struggles, and lifes little pleasures that we had back in those years. I could give you some more examples, but I think you get my picture. Personally, I am glad that I lived when I did, and that I won't have as many years to put up with some of the idiosyncrasies that my children will have to endure.
I will agree with you in some aspects. Today's younger generation is definitely the ME crowd. They DESERVE to go to college...it's not earned it's deserved. They DESERVE a good job...not working their way up...and so on. But I think also things have changed due to information and the way it is distributed. Science, technology and information is better today than it ever was. People do take a stance but some information that we didn't have before is available now...for example...how bad the cig companies are. In the 70's you didn't know they were loading their cigs up with things to enhance your addiction (besides tobacco)...and so on and so on. Driving with an open container or drunk way back when wasn't a big crime either and now it's sort of a big crime...(should be bigger) but those changes come with the information and as our society evolves. It's not always for the worse. You still have the freedom to take years off of your life by smoking 10 packs a day if you want you just can't do it in as many public places. FWIW I'm a whopper guy too... =)
