| I'm probably going to try the Minelab Explorer II. I'm still doing some comparing between it and a Whites DFX. The big difference in the technology of the XLT I now own and these two are the XLT is a single frequency machine and the others are dual(DFX) and 20(Exp II).
A detectors depth and sensitivity are determined by its frequency. A low frequency(1.5khz) has great depth but less sensitive to smaller targets. A higher frequency(100khz) is very sensitive to small targets but not very good penetration. The DFX(Dual Frequency of 1.5khz and 100khz) gives the best of both worlds. The Explorer II shoots 20 different frequencies(1.5khz-100khz) for even more versatility. I hear the Exp II has better depth but is difficult to operate.
