I poked around that link for awhile and have no problem deciding who is the most screwed up...

Who do you think it is:

The males following their instinct to broadcast their seed?
or
The one who spent so much time in some weird attempt to right a former wrong through an intentional cyber version of the Greek's mythological Siren Song leading to ship wreck? Where's Odysseus when we need him?

lurker sees it simplistically: *There are three different circuits in the brain -- one for the sexual drive, one for romantic love, and one for attachment. These developed to serve different functions. The sex drive evolved so that we would mate. Romantic love evolved to focus our mating energy on one person and therefore be more efficient in mating. Attachment evolved so that we could tolerate the individual we are with.

There are no distinct lines between these circuits and often times they are out-of-phase.

*Google Dr. Helen Fisher
