I get that. The best way to make sure your observations don't fall on completely deaf ears is to make them in writing to the bus superintendent. With a carbon copy (anyway it was carbon copy in the old days!) to the School Superintendent and a carbon copy to the Dodge City Daily Globe. You don't necessarily have to send the carbon to the Globe, but seeing the notation there will likely get some attention from the school super. And if you don't get a reply within a reasonable amount of time, simply mark a copy 'second request' in red and send it again. Only this time, really sending it to the Globe might stir something up. The kids aren't safe in the meantime, but unless we can get the parents to take their kids to and from school, there really aren't any better alternatives.

Good bus drivers are hard to find. Sometimes because of the schedule - it doesn't work well with other jobs; sometimes because the bus driver just doesn't like kids. And they don't get paid squat, either. I'm seeing something I really don't like - and that's the people we really count on, we don't pay. I make much more than teachers up here - and I'm not entrusted with young people's minds. It's really kind of strange.

Have a good evening, everybody!
