The old ones were that way...but the new ones are actually tuned to the frequency of glass breaking. Mine have never gone off erroneously.

There are weaknesses in any alarm system. Mine for example...If I only have the infra-red zone armed and not the doors and windows or other devices, a small child(under 50lbs) could walk through undetected. This is because The infra red sensors have pet-immune feature activated to keep from false alarming on my cats. Likewise, if you come into the house from extreme cold, like below 30 degrees and the surface of your clothes are still very cold, you can pass through the infra red system undetected (for a few minutes until you start to give off a heat signature). I don't normally leave the house without arming all zones, unless I am going to work out in the garage...which is also armed. This assumes you know where the laser beams and sentry guns are located...LOL!
