My Union sent people down to Houston to help out w/ logisitics for the strike.
I can tell you, "Voting" is at the end of the list of things these people are working for.
A Union card wouldn't afford them a right to vote in any election, except their Unions.
As for big companies avoid providing benefits and get the cheap labor, absolutely..

They rake in the huge profits, you flip the bill..

I don't think being unwlling to learn English makes a person "illegal"..
