| The election of the Democrats will only prove a bad thing for me and my profession. Clinton nearly gutted the Armed Forces during his tenure, and I can see the same getting ready to happen again. As for Iraq, the bottom line is that Bush sent us (myself included) in there because of bad intel. Now that we are there, and dedicated to the cause, it doesn't matter if the invasion was a good idea or a bad one. We are there. The true question it all boils down to is, is can you force democracy on a people who have never had it, and are we willing to pay the price in blood for another countries freedom? I think its a known fact that if we pull out now, Iraq will collapse down on itself. There will be much more violent killings that what we see today. Yes, none of the casualties will be American, but there will be thousands of deaths. But if we stay, the deaths will be decreased, but they will be American deaths. On average, worst case senerio, about a hundred a month. This is the awful moral question we as a nation have to ask ourselves. Are we dedicated?
Its not my place to say what is right or wrong. In my given profession I follow the orders of those apointed over me. But the American people choose those people. I hope they have chosen wisely. |
