As for the free have you tried Guild Wars? It is a free to play MMO but the problem is you have to pay for the expansion to keep up with the new gameplay. But is otherwise a very fun game, it has seperate instances so that you never fight over the same hunting spot again which is pretty nice, but you can still group hunt.
