I agree if they keep messing up, than ya, they be on the offenders list, but your saying not to send them to rehab and instead prison? Don't we pay for that as well? Wouldn't our money be better spent sending them to rehab? All the answers are YES. Isn't it better to be able to turn around some people and not none of them?? Recovery is different from abstinence and
Recovery is more than just quitting drugs. it's changing your entire way of life, your thinking, your behaviors, ect...In prison they can get worse!!! No, rehab doesn't always work, but it works better than prison obviously. I would rather spend my money on people getting educated to be more productive in life instead of getting educated on being a better criminal. |
1st of all...WHY was meth given to soldiers in earlier wars by the gov't? No matter...we are talking about the CRIMINALS that make it, take it and sell it. NOT people that are given meth via some gov't reason. Your oranges are getting mixed with your apples. If some meth head gets busted for selling meth to kids and others I say YES...send his sorry ass to prison. I don't want to hear that he is a victim of addiction. He is a victim of addiction because he used the crap. Makes sense doesn't it. When someone makes poor choices they pay for their crimes. When an alcoholic kills someone while driving drunk we don't send them to AA and put them back into society. We make them go to jail for their crime. NOW...if someone voluntarily goes to seek help for addiction that is different..but when the person is caught peddling the drugs that is destroying us...it's about jail. The information about meth is available...some people just ignore the law and make/use it anyway. We can pat these people on the back, coddle them and try to help them or we can make them pay for their crimes. I, along with most people perfer to punish them for their crimes. You can counsel them, feel sorry for them or whatever. I agree, addiction is a sad thing...what is even more sad is the people that suffer from effects of the person being addicted. Ever see a crack baby? Yeah...counseling...the way to go...lol.
