Who popped Pauly?
Apparently no one — at least that’s what Odessa Police Department officers said.
A video widely circulated on the Internet purports to show Pauly Shore getting punched in the face during a Saturday night performance at the 8th Street Comedy Club in Odessa.
But the OPD maintains that an off-duty OPD officer working club security reported it was a “skit” rehearsed before the show.
After receiving calls from nationwide news agencies including FoxNews, Odessa investigators contacted the off-duty officer.
Authorities did not identify the officer because he was doing work outside his official capacity as a lawman.
“The officer reported he had met with Mr. Shore prior to his set and was asked to participate in the skit,” Sgt. Paul Shepherd said in a news release. “The officer stated that the skit went as designed and that Shore was not injured in the designed skit.”
Furthermore, the officer reported Shore did not seem offended after the show, regardless of the act videotaped Saturday night.
“The officer reported that after the show, Pauly Shore conducted his autograph session and had his photograph taken with the supposed ‘assaulter.’ ”
