Quote: Wyatt Earp Boulevard Reconstruction Project Update The Progress/Business Meetings scheduled for Friday, December 29, 2006 and Friday, January 5, 2007 have been cancelled due to the Holidays.
CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULE:
Limited work on the project will be done over the next two weeks due to the Christmas and New Year Holidays.
Some curb & gutter and concrete pavement may be placed at the intersections of 11th Ave. and 5th Ave, weather permitting. The intersections of 11th Ave. and 5th Ave., north of Wyatt Earp Blvd., remain closed for reconstruction. With the intersections closed, 11th Ave. and 5th Ave. will be closed to thru traffic from Spruce Street to Wyatt Earp Blvd. Businesses and residents not directly adjacent to the construction area will still have access from 11th Ave. and 5th Ave. Hardesty Ave. also remains closed to thru traffic from Spruce St. to Wyatt Earp Blvd. When Dobson Brothers Construction Company returns from the holiday break they will continue with sub-grade preparation along Wyatt Earp Blvd. Preparation of the sub-grade will continue from 5th Ave. to 7th Ave, placement of the sub-base material will follow. Then the Contractor will move to 14th Ave and proceed east with the sub-grade preparation. Placement of the sub-base material and concrete will follow. A section of mainline paving will be completed shortly after the contractor returns. The rest of the mainline paving on Wyatt Earp Blvd. is scheduled for January of 2007. Once the Pavement is placed, cured, and prepped for traffic, the traffic will be switched onto the new driving surface.
After New Year’s, the contractor will start the reconstruction of the 14th Ave. and Wyatt Earp Blvd. intersection. During this time expect longer delays getting through the intersection.
Wyatt Earp Businesses still Accessible
All reconstruction work will be done in sections, to insure that the businesses along Wyatt Earp Boulevard will have at least one drive open at all time. During the Sub-Base installation drives will be removed and replaced as quickly as possible.
Please be aware of the construction zone and obey all signs and barricades. Please also obey the construction zone speed limit for your safety and the safety of the construction workers.
Stop signs have been placed on the south side of the railroad tracks at 1st Ave., 2nd Ave., and 4th Ave. to ensure your safety. Please do not cross the tracks until it is safe to do so, and as always DO NOT STOP on the tracks.
Remember to patronize the businesses along Wyatt Earp Boulevard and Front Street.
The City of Dodge City wishes everyone a safe and Happy Holiday Season. | Translation: "we're taking our sweet-assed time."
I don't like the crushed aggregate; unless there's provisions for water weeping.
