Could be, but I say never underestimate the Arkansas. I know today it is but a shadow of it's former grandeur to most, but believe it or not the Arkansas hasn't changed all that much from 100 years ago.

Even back in the mid 1800's travelers describe the Arkansas, in this area, as not much more than a trickle in the prairie. It was described as all but dried up at times back then. But the Arkansas has been pretty steady in it's average 30-40 year floods.

I've heard it said that the *cough* "flood control" of the Army Core will do more harm than good when the next big one comes along. It's proved to be a big disaster in other towns that had the same flood control done.
