| It ought to be a lot of fun. Most people would like to try a metal detector out but in all honesty your chances of finding something valuable is pretty slim without lots of experience. We hope to secure a good location that WILL produce good finds. It doesn't take long to teach the basic principals of using a detector. And I've always found the more people, the better your odds that someone will find some goodies.
Knowing where to look is every bit as important, if not more, than how to use a detector. After all, you can buy the best there is but if you hunt in places where there isn't anything to find, you're not going to find anything. Even a cheap detector can find "the good stuff" if used right and in the right places.
Proper hunting technique is also important. Knowing where you can hunt and that you never leave any signs you were there.
