It was once said about Detector - "If there was only one good find in a wide open field, Detector would walk right to it" - John

I bought a Garrett ACE250 off ebay for 160bucks with shipping. I took it out with D one afternoon to get a feel for it. We compared signals and such on targets, and within 10 minutes at the sand pit I managed to find 5 coins. 3 Pennies (no wheaties), a Nickel and a French Coin (wasn't very old maybe 20 years, no date I could decipher)

Walmart does not carry Metal Detectors on a regular basis. If your going to buy Radio Shack, buy the Discovery 3300. The 3300 and the ACE250 are the best of the cheap models. They say to use the formula of $100 per inch. Want to find stuff 8" then you need to spend 800 bucks. I don't totally agree with that because I was finding things 6 - 8 " with my ACE 250.
