| Re: The bleeding heart liberals forcing the soft treatment of prisoners: It wasn't that long ago that most prisoners did live in inhumane conditions. I worked for 3.5 years at the Larned State Hospital for the Criminally Insane back in the late 60s and yes, there were deplorable conditions. To wit, a cut off plastic bleach bottle to shit and piss in, and guards, er, aids, that would purposely screw with an inmate until he would blow, thus allowing us "aides" the opportunity to deal out a bit of "forced justice."
So, changes were needed. However, the so-called radical changes seemed to be the rule, and they went too far. Damn that pendulum of reality, won't it ever stop in the middle? I visited LSH years later as a journalist, and was appalled at the "freedoms" given to those under the custody of the state for crimes.
So, what's the solution? Remember, DNA evidence has cleared a few "murderers" and "rapists" of their crimes. So what, as long as it's not me or my friends, right?
Jes wondering, my friends. |
