Maybe we should also all write our state senators to back this bill by the senator from Haysville.
The senator for Dodge City is Tim Huelskamp, his email addy is
huelskamp@senate.state.ks.us
I sent the following email to him, I hope Tee doesn't mind that I stole some of his material off of here to help make my point. Feel free to copy and paste my email to him with your signature to show support.

I understand that there is a bill proposed by Sen. Phil Journey, R-Haysville, that would prohibit cities from placing additional regulations on the state's concealed carry law passed in 2006. The bill also would void any regulations already passed by cities regarding concealed carry within their jurisdictions.
Please support this bill as it looks like Dodge City is trying to limit the rights of law abiding citizens.
CCH Licensees are people who have:
a) Been through training on the laws of the state and the Fed concerning firearms
b) Demonstrated a proficiency and accuracy in field range targeting
c) Passed stringent background check requirements
d) Passed written gun components testing
e) Been trained on gun safety and handling
f) registered with the local and state govt as a CCH licensee
They should not be punished by short sighted local politicians. What good is it to have a state law allowing concealed carry when a city can make it virtually impossible to carry anywhere except your own private property.
Sincerely, |
