| See how this discussion, like I thought it would, would come down to religious ideals, name calling and legal hair splitting (life-not life) which is why this issue is as heated as it is. Is "Thou shalt not kill" a commandment only regulated to those we want to kill? If you live by the commandments, then isn't living in America breaking the ones governing covetting? Capitalism is based and ran on the concept of wanting what others have. Is a fetus not a life? That is why I think abortion is legalized murder, pure and simple. Is it right or is it wrong? That depends, in my opinion, on exactly where your beliefs are. If you believe ALL life has the right to live, then it is wrong. If you believe life has different definitions, like is it a viable life, then it is right. I agree, abortion as a form of birth control is morally wrong. Knowing quite a few women who have had abortions, they did not view it that callusly (sic). They did not willingly have sex with the idea of not caring if they got pregnant because they would just get an abortion. I am sure some women, and men, do view it as an option instead of condoms or the pill, but that is a small, small percentage.
Also it was brought up that the father has no say. You are correct, and it is unfair, but show me anywhere in anything where one side does not have final say or best outcome for them. The woman carries the child so she gets the final say, it is just that simple. Until it comes to a point where men can bear children, that is just how it goes.
