Anyone the public hires, give the power to investigate or detain and in some cases use deadly force against members of society, has to accept that responsibility and all that goes with it. One of the most important things that goes with that is they have to be held to a higher standard than the rest of us.
Once their convenience or even their safety comes before the safety of the society they have accepted the responsibilty to protect they need to question who and what they are.
