Macdaddy, I knew which post that you were referring to. The truth is this is a potentially life or death issue so passions do get high sometimes.
As I stated before, I’ve watched these laws in other states for almost twenty years. I’ve seen the same hype in every state when the laws were being discussed in the legislature and it’s always the same no matter what state it comes up in. I’ve heard the visions of shootouts over traffic disputes and blood running in the streets. Wild West shootouts and Dodge City also come up. None of it happens. I refuse to believe that the folks in Kansas are any less responsible or more likely to abuse a CC law than folks elsewhere.
I even agree with some of what you’ve posted.

That’s true. Most successful firearm defenses occur without firing a shot. Most potential perps change their minds when the gun comes out. Just because force wasn’t used doesn’t mean the intended victim didn’t need an equalizer.

I don’t know the number off the top either but it’s there and the exact number isn’t necessary to make your point. Still it’s a small amount compared to the successful times an officer in involved in an altercation. It’s also a small number with civilian gun owners. It isn’t a good reason to deny someone one of the most effective tools of self defense if that person believes they have a need for it. On the subject of training every gun rights group that I’ve ever seen recommends more and ongoing training beyond what is required to get a CC permit. There is never an argument about training but there is sometimes a disagreement on how much the law should require. Heck, when Jesse Ventura was governor of Minnesota and got a CC permit someone was screaming about his lack of training and he's a former Navy Seal. I suspect he had more of the proper training than most cops.
