From my experience working in small market radio in SW KS, getting an engineer (let alone a good one!) to come out here is like pulling teeth. The stations based in Dodge had enough problems or concerns to keep an engineer going full time. But they dont bring in enough money for the admin to justify having one only for here. So, they tack on stations all over western KS for them to cover. When I worked there, our engineer (when we had one) covered DC, Liberal, Larned, and Colby I believe. Things might work better if they were made in the last 40 years as well, but transmitters and optimods and processors are not cheap and companies dont want to pay for good equipment to be used in stations barely breaking even in the books.
