"hands in the cookie jar" implies something wrong, hence the term. "Holding the bag" would be more appropriate, if that is what your teacher had said. If your teacher said the first statement, then that implies that your teacher has the opinion that it is wrong for Isreal to exist. I am sure the Arab countries were/are pissed about it, but they would be pissed about anything so it doesn't matter. Maybe my opinion is wrong but I get that your teacher, instead of teaching relevant facts, was teaching his/her opinion instead, which is wrong. They give the impression that we deserve whatever hatred comes from the Arab countries. Now if you want to accept that, go ahead. I personally think they can all piss up a rope.
As for Britian leaving Isreal........I could care less and do not think they abbandoned us. What help could they give that we do not give already? Hell, that country can't even figure out how to deal with Ireland and think Madonna is a goddess. I mean the singer, not the religious one. If Isreal were to be attacked by another country, and not some terrorist group, I think Britian would help and come to their aid if needed.
I do care what other countries think about us. I am just not willing to kiss their asses to make them happy, nor am I willing to apologize for having the best damn country on this planet. We are the youngest country, and the strongest and other countries do not like it. They bitch when we get involved, they bitch if we don't. They take the contributions and charity we give, then expect us to give more and complain if we don't. How much did our country and our people give for the tsunami victims and countries? How much did the rest of the world? How much did they give for our victims of Katrina? How many of them dipped into their oil reserves to help us out? Now, do I expect them to do this? No I do not.
Ask me if i give a crap what the average French person thinks of my country and I will ask them if they speak German. Ask me if i give a crap what the average Arab thinks of my country and I will ask them how much oil they sold us.
I think these countries are giving us the diplomatic help they can. I think we can win this war.........when we are allowed to win it.

..........but seriously, this whole mess could be fixed and finished if the politicians would stay out of it. They do not know how to conduct a war. You do not see the military running the country do you? Well, the politicians need to follow that example.
