The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) issued an administrative order against the Safety-Kleen Systems Branch in Dodge City requiring that it implement environmental and safety precautions at the plant.
KDHE also ordered the cleaning and environmental services company to pay a $21,000 civil penalty for failing to comply with environmental regulations and permit requirements.
The plant has 90 days from March 12th to submit plans to address the safety concerns, which include minimizing fire hazards and the release of hazardous waste. They will then have 180 days to complete the porgram once it is approved by the KDHE.
Safety-Kleen would then have to collect routine hazardous waste samples for analysis
21K, must be a pretty serious violation. They handle alot of hazardous materials and solvents at this branch!! There goes the ground water that we have left!!
