Per my H&R Block contact the 15th is Sunday and Monday is some Federal holiday so the due date is the 17th this year. .

I personally don’t recommend waiting till the last minute.
I can agree with not waiting until the last minute to start your return but otherwise, why not? Stick the extension form in there and add a check to cover and you get until August to file (just make sure you pay enough with the extension form).

It blew my mind the first year I was in Dodge to find out the post office kept regular hours on the 15th. I was one of those folks who would take it to the post office around midnight just for the postage stamp, free coffee, and joke with the postal folks.

My tax return and check has been sitting in a stamped envelope since Feb, no sense in giving George and Nancy any more until I have to do it.
