Can you also say (or is it not as "post-worthy") that you see a lot of great kids who are a real asset to society. I have worked amongst high school students for the last 15 years or so and I am saddened by the bad wrap our students get, when the majority are smart, talented, goal-minded kids. I wish you could be more open minded and see the positive in our youth. | I DO see A LOT of great kids but that not what this post is about. My wife worked there for a bit as a para and some of the stuff she told me that happened that she seen and heard the kids talking about (in spanish) was not so pleasant. As a matter of fact she didn't feel safe in that environment. I maybe ought not to be saying this as a recruiter but you say the majority of the kids are smart, talented and goal minded....well the tests say otherwise. USD is barely above 50% proficiency in Math. That's the entire school district and I would be willing to bet the HS is lower. Being proficient means you understand it enough to use it but does not make you bright. A majority of the kids at the HS are not smart, talented goal minded kids (in my opinion). While those kids DO exist in numbers they are not the majority. I understand that a few bad apples can give everyone a bad rap but again I believe it's not the rosy picture you paint. Let me ask you this since you are probably a teacher. Do you think there are drugs in your school and if so how much? Do you think there are weapons being brought to school either inside or in the parking lot...and if so what type? Just curious.
