The VT shooter was prohibited under current law because a court found him to be a danger to himself and others and ordered mental treatment. That court ruling didn’t flow over to the background check data base and this guy slipped through the cracks. Try fixing the problem with a law that wasn't enforced.

From the Washington Post column:

Quote:
Advocates of gun control try to open a discussion about whether more reasonable weapons statutes might reduce the number of violent deaths.

Opponents of gun control shout, "No!" Guns don't kill people, people kill people, they say, and anyway, if everybody were carrying weapons, someone would have taken out the mass murderer and all would have been fine.
Step one. Define more gun control as “reasonable” and paint opponents as shouting nut cases. If the writer wants to have reasoned debate he needs an attitude adjustment. I’m not inclined to negotiate anything with someone that talks like this.

A mass murder is defined as 4 or more victims within an hour. How many can you think of that occurred were citizens can legally carry guns as opposed to gun free zones like schools and post offices?
