| Helping Greensburg Survivors. A thought occurred to me that a post talking about what our community as a whole needs to do to help the survivors of the Greensburg tragedy. I work at the Travelodge here in Dodge and its just breaking my heart having to turn people from Greensburg away.
We have one larger family here that has no money and no means to get food at this time. Our hotel has been helping quite a bit by providing them with some Pizzas or other foods but they like all the other survivors in our town need some good home cooked meals and maybe a roof over their heads temporarily.
The hotels in town are trying their damndest to accommodate them. But we like all the others are so stressed to our capacity limit that we are having to turn them away. Its breaking my heart and I'm moved to tears on about 10-15 seperate occasions a day.
This is what I'm proposing to the community.
Call the local area hotels. Find out if they are housing any survivors at all. If you have an open room in your house please open your hosue to them. If nothing else, cook something and bring it to them. These people have no means to help themselves for the short term.
On a side note, I asked my mother to cook a large dinner for about 10 and bring it to the large family we have staying here.
I'm just trying to help these people because its not right to do nothing. |
