Windows XP huh? Hmmmm... In my line of work, this is an easy fix. Re-install Windows on top of the old install. When this fails, as it frequently, but not always does, you are going to have to do a clean install. Either option is time consuming, but the first option will allow you to keep your data, whereas the second option will re-format your HD and you will lose everything. Do you have a winXP disk? Or a "recovery" disk?
