| In regards to the car chase, it was police officers that chased him down and caught him. It is police officers that are putting in the work to possibly charge him for homicide if it is warranted. The release of information especially in homicide cases has to be carefully controlled and everyone involved with the case has to really watch what they say. If you look at the whole mess with the Duke Lacrosse player investigation. The lead prosecutor started feeding the citizens appetite for information prior to even getting into the court room. The information was full of accusations and misleading information. When the DNA testing started to show the allegations had no merit, the case went in the toilet. Now that prosecutor is being sued, losing his career, losing his license to practice, and basically made into an outcast. Defense attorneys get to have all the time they want in the media to explain their cases and taint potential jury members unless a gag order is in place. Prosecutors and police don't get the luxury to say what they want because the defense will argue the comments will prejudice the jury pool and can have the case moved somewhere else, evidence becomes suppressed, and witnesses can get roasted on the stand. The only two people that know what happened in this murder is the victim and the suspect. Unfortunately the victim can never tell her side of what happened so the state has to speak for her and see that justice is done.
Information is only as valuable as the ones with the cameras and broadcasting abilities, which is the media. Their desire to pick a case or subject is entirely their whim. Can anyone argue that if the media gives biased information against a person not convicted of a crime that it will affect our decisions? Why and how they choose what to report is beyond me. If anyone can flashback to the time of the Carr brothers trial, do you remember what the national media was fascinated with? It wasn't about two men that committed several acts of murder, rape, or robbery....it was about freakin Winona Ryder's shoplifting trial which ended in her prosecution and receiving probation. The Carr brother's trial was a capital murder case with the death penalty.
If someone commits a criminal act in Dodge in which I or anyone else is a victim, I will call the DCPD. If they ask for my help with anything, I will be more than happy. I will not question the integrity of the officers because of the alleged acts of an individual. If the red army happens to parachute into Dodge in the middle of the night, I will call the military regardless of what some soldiers did in Greensburg.  |
