That is just being selfish on the part of the parents, in my opinion. I don't know that many 65-75 year olds with the energy, patience and ability to teach a child how to ride a bike, or play football with them, or even play catch with a baseball. They should have thought more about what would be best for the child they would bring in at that age, instead of what makes them happy.
As far as Larry King and the like having kids at an advanced age, they are married to young trophy wives that will still be around to raise the child after they die of old age.
