| I know I'm young and relatively inexperienced in the ways of the world, but I still believe fully in checks and balances. The government works best when it works together and don't step on each other. I don't see that from either party or branch of government at the moment. In order for a president to be successful, he/she needs to effectively lead and represent the country and set policy where needed. Congress should be there to serve as a board and make sure the President does what's needed. But anymore, it just seems each branch (and each party) wants to do everyone else's job and screw the rest!
So, yes, not only yes but a hell yes, I want Bush to succeed in leading this country. And thus far he has lead us. But, in my opinion, I don't think he has represented America very well. The same can be said of Congress, both before and after the election of 2006. The same can be said of just about all of the presidential candidates of 2008. None are are what I want in the greatest office in the land. I don't feel like I can rally around any one of them. |
