I find it interesting that the Globe over the past few days have ran articles on the casino and what gambling means to other towns our size. What I find more interesting is the articles for the casino get front billing while the articles against it are in the middle...

One last thought, casinos are a change. Dodge needs a change. I'm sorry, but the agri business is drying up before our eyes. Soon the aquafer will be dry, and Dodge and the rest of western Kansas will be once again desert, as it was way back when. These ethanol plants and such are not an answer, merely an adhesive patch to cover a problem, while the area of concern still pesters and deteriorates. A casino would be a boost in a different direction. A boost that is most needed in a town that has changed for the worst.

To all of those who may question, may I simply point out that there is no opportunity for our brightest leaving 443, yes there are a few, to return to Dodge as it is now. I did, but I'm starting to wonder about that decision. This town is bad. From the illegal immigrant problem to the corruption going on at city hall, this town's a mess. If we don't do something now, why would anyone come back to this town in 10 years, given what has happened over the past 10? Dodge isn't the same town, drive anywhere south of the bypass and you'll soon realize that.
