In thinking about that, however, we also need to consider the social cost of the casino. It is estimated that 1,280 to 1,920 persons will become pathological gamblers as a result of a casino. The social cost of one pathological gambler is $13,586 per year. The annual social cost would be between $17 million and $26 million, therefore, roughly 10 to 15 times as much as the county will receive."

Thompson believes a Dodge City casino could generate $80 million a year in revenues. Your anti-gambling sources are not valid sources of information because they will, of course, be biased against the gaming industry.

Your source of Bishop Gilmore is almost comical!! While he says how bad gambling in a casino will be while he apparently doesn't have a problem with having Bingo in the Knights of Columbus hall 2 nights a week. His bingo is also supervised by the Kansas Lottery by the way.

Quit relying on anti-gaming sources for your information and look at the facts from communities that are doing great from having casino's in them. Have you already forgotten about the article in the Globe about Boonville, MO? They interviewed a city administrator, who said that the city has more money for projects, land annexation for the city, beautification of the city, etc. They interviewed the Police Chief, who said that there has been no increase in crime, no prostitution etc. that the anti-gaming people tell you will always happen. They interviewed a business owner, who said that there has been no change to speak of in business, NOT the drop in business the anti-gaming people try to scare people into believing will happen.
