| I believe the reason behind the banning fireworks in the Civic Center and middle school parking lot is for safety reasons. Tons of people pack in there with kids and adults, and it isnt exactly safe for some of these fireworks to be set off anywhere near a crowd of people.
Also, please remember that there is to be no setting off of fireworks on any city property...including the streets! It is a shame to drive around town (or after the Civic Center empties, in the parking lot) and seeing the trash left by all the fireworks. Sure, I could see a little bit of paper blowing out into the street inadvertantly. But, I remember driving down Third last year about 1 AM July 5th and having to swerve around all the piles of firework debris left in the road. If everyone picked up after themselves, Dodge would be a nicer to place to live in! |
