I've hunted west of dodge for years but nothing Spanish yet. I did find a 1839 silver half dime. The Spanish silver that was buried west of town? would probably have been Spanish Milled Dollars. Also known as Pillar Dollars, 8 Reale and Piece of Eight. 21 bags with 1000 silver dollars per bag is thought to be buried near here.



I have found 1 Spanish Reale but was not west of town. Here is a picture of the one I found.




Taking part in the Dodge City Days Medallion Hunt has become a tradition for our family since the beginning. My parents house becomes Medallion Central where we all share ideas. Although we have yet to find it it is a lot of fun none the less.
