I remember well the vote in 1997 - The deal that was sold was that the 4 centers would be build or upgraded and that we would maintain the sales tax to support those efforts. I don't remember that the deal was ever maintained that the activities would ever be self supporting. The sales tax would continue on to support or develop new projects. This was a great opportunity for all time. I am not sure why this is such a surprise for anyone now. And it is a great opportunity for Dodge City. Everyone always claims that sales tax is the most fair tax. Why isn't it fair now?
