Last night there was a motion to recommit on an agricultural spending bill. Republicans wanted to send it back to committee to add language denying benefits to illegal immigrants. Republicans had won the vote 215 to 213 when the gavel dropped closing the vote. Afterward votes were changed to fail the Republican motion. Failure to add language to the appropriations bill allows Democrats to preserve and expand welfare services for illegals.
