I did try looking in the device manager--no yellow flags. The usb hub was a 2.0 and I bought another one with an external power source and it didn't work either.
As for the missing dll file. At the time, I posted the question on the Smart Computing web site. No one had exactly the same error message, but I did get the suggestion to copy the contents of the cd onto the hard drive and then run the exe file. I couldn't get the cd to copy onto the drive and put the whole project on the back burner.
As to getting a new cd burner, I've got a sony vaio computer with a flat screen and computer built into the back of the screen. I'm not sure whether replacment drives are even available for this machine and since the usb drives seem rather squirley I'm not sure an external drive would be the answer either. |
