We have a need to know that something is trying to be done to overcome the potential hazard to our troops. Given there is a specific budget line for "an anti IED" taskforce that has held public hearings and testimony.
Besides, since CNN can't seem to get a story straight sometimes, who's to say it's not a planted story to give the insurgency a false sense of confidence? Draw them out and wipe them out like a bad Chuck Norris movie.

Never quite understood why the Times bothers the right so much, especially since the left is PO'd at it for not doing enough in investigating and exposig the
alledged Bush administration follies. The same founding fathers that penned the 2nd amendment considered a free press vital to our continued freedom and the Times, among other media, do not routinely going around exposing state secrets.
