| Nothing better than people who do not own "aggressive" type dogs, never trained dogs, and base all their experience on "a friend said" or fixed statistics to base their 100% factual opinion that because a dog is a certain breed it is dangerous. Only dogs I know that as a breed, and EVERY one of them of this breed are vicious killers, are Caucasion Mountain dogs. Pit-bull BREEDS are no more dangerous than any other medium sized dog. They are no more vicious AS A BREED than any other dog. While they were originally bred as fighting dogs, Swiss Mountain Dogs were bred to be sled and wagon pullers but you do not see them running around and grabbing wagons. Pekinese were bred to attack people that came to close to their master. Chows, Shar-Pe's, English Bulldogs, Mastiffs, Dobermans, Great Danes, Greyhounds........etc. were all bred to kill or fight.
The ordinance is designed not so much to ban a breed of dog (unless you have papers showing 4 generations of the blood line you cannot garuntee that a dog is a certain breed) but is and was designed to stop people from raising vicious dogs since the majority of them were pit-bull type dogs. If the majority of the vicious dogs in town were Rottwieller type dogs, the ordinance would have been aimed at them. I actually agree with the ordinance because it has done what it was designed to do and cut down on these unwanted animals.
I will appologize ahead of time if I come across as crass or assholish but it always bothers me when people judge with a broad brush. Most vicious dog I ever trained.....Miniature Schnauzer.
