Oh, are you embedded over there? I'm not. The Weekly Standard isn't, nor is the New Republic. The only points I made were:

1. That the Weekly Standards's reporting was wishful thinking in the author had recanted.' .

2. As the original poster intended, any US soldier writing anything other than "we're doing the right thing here" is subject to various forms of attack. The messenger is attacked just as violently as the message.

That there was(is) an investigation and that the Army publicly denies the actions happened should be surprising to no one. But using the Bassett's term of bs, this army has passed enough of it out that one would wonder if they would admit whatever he wrote about had a basis in fact

Show me where I said whatever Beauchamp wrote was true. All I have said is it has not been proven to be false. Some want to believe it is false but that is different from being false. As far as I am concerned it's just as wrong for the TNR to accept confirmation from five annonymous sources prior to printing as it is for them to poo-poo other annonymous sources that are cited in the others trying to prove it false. TNR got burned once before for shoddy verification and if they get burned again, it's their own damn fault.

I think Maj Lamb would be joining Pvt. Beauchamp on whatever punishment they heap on him should Maj Lamb differeniate from his script.

They weren't forced to disclose it, they chose to disclose it.
