I braked hard (tires squealed) and pulled my car to the left and into the kerb so as not to hit the dog, which of course just kept running across the street and into a neighbors yard.

So, shaking my head but thankful that the dog was ok, I put my car in reverse and start backing away from the kerb to get underway again when I see the dog's owner sitting in her front yard.

"Why don't you watch where you are going?" she says to me.

I was speechless for a few seconds, but thought better than to get into an argument so just carried on about my business.

I would have pulled over and called the animal control person.
